As Bad Bunny prepares to make history by headlining the Super Bowl LX halftime show, becoming the first artist to perform entirely in Spanish, Puerto Rico’s culinary community is stepping into the spotlight alongside him. In a powerful fusion of music, culture, and food, a collective of Puerto Rican chefs and mixologists has launched the Super Bowl con Sabor Boricua Cookbook, a digital culinary initiative designed to celebrate the moment with unmistakable Boricua flavor.
The project, titled “Super Bowl con Sabor Boricua” (Super Bowl with Puerto Rican Flavor), is a free digital cookbook accompanied by a series of videos that invite fans to experience the biggest sporting event of the year through Puerto Rican cuisine. More than a recipe collection, the Super Bowl con Sabor Boricua Cookbook is a cultural statement, one that places Puerto Rican food, identity, and pride at the center of a global stage.

Elevating Super Bowl Traditions With Puerto Rican Cuisine
Every year, Super Bowl celebrations across the United States revolve around familiar game-day foods. In fact, an estimated 1.5 billion chicken wings are consumed nationwide during the event. For Chef Xavier Pacheco, that statistic sparked a clear opportunity.
“We joined forces with the idea of elevating that experience and demonstrating that Puerto Rican cuisine has everything it takes to shine on this global stage,” Pacheco explained. The goal was simple yet ambitious: transform typical Super Bowl fare into dishes rooted in Puerto Rican culinary traditions, while keeping the recipes accessible, shareable, and easy to prepare at home.
The result is a collection of Puerto Rican recipes and cocktails inspired by the island’s flavors, designed for gatherings, watch parties, and celebrations that go beyond the screen.
A Collective of Puerto Rican Culinary Talent
Filmed at BACOA restaurant in Juncos, the project brings together an impressive lineup of chefs and mixologists representing Puerto Rico’s diverse and evolving food scene. Participating chefs include Natalia Vallejo, Xavier Pacheco, Raúl Correa, René Marichal, Carlos Portela, and Nasha Fondeur, while the cocktail program is led by mixologists Leslie Cofresí and Natasha Sofía.
Each participant contributed voluntarily, presenting original recipes and cocktails in digital format. The content is paired with explanatory videos and a downloadable recipe book, ensuring that anyone, whether on the island or in the Puerto Rican diaspora, can recreate these flavors at home.
From Concept to Screen: A Collaborative Creative Effort
The production of Super Bowl con Sabor Boricua Cookbook was handled by La Mafia, Puerto Rico, under the direction and curatorship of Rafael “Rafi” Ruíz Mederos, who oversaw the filming of all recipes. Meanwhile, the conceptualization and creative design were led by Karen Garnik, APR, PRSA Fellow, alongside Global Vision Marketing & Communications.
This collaborative effort ensured that the project maintained both high production quality and a strong cultural narrative, aligning food, storytelling, and visual identity into one cohesive experience.
Puerto Rican Culture Takes Center Stage
At its core, Super Bowl con Sabor Boricua celebrates Puerto Rican culture at a historic moment. With Puerto Rican music, language, and identity reaching unprecedented global visibility through Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance, the project reinforces that cultural pride is also expressed through food.
“This is an invitation to celebrate who we arem from the kitchen and the table to sharing our cuisine with the world,” organizers emphasized. It’s a reminder that Puerto Rican gastronomy is not only delicious, but also deeply tied to heritage, creativity, and collective memory.
